/Ongoing actions of the Steering Committee

/EPBRS Workshop on a "strategy for European biodiversity research" (June, 17, 2008)

The meeting will be held at DEFRA, London, on the 17th of June, 2008


/EPBRS and IMoSEB mentioned by the Council of the European Union (March, 4, 2008)

During the meeting of the Working Party on International Environment Issues, participants agreed to the following wording on EPBRS and IMoSEB:

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION:
  • 11. RECOGNISES the work carried out by the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy to identify and promote policy-relevant research
  • 12. STANDS READY to take part in on-going efforts to establish an international mechanism for the provision of objective, authoritative and peer-reviewed scientific knowledge to policy-making, while promoting synergy with existing processes; WELCOMES the contribution made by the IMoSEB consultative process and the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment and STRESSES the urgent need for a follow-up to the conclusions of the Conference of the International Steering Committee of the consultative process of IMoSEB held in Montpellier in November 2007 and ENCOURAGES Parties and others to engage in this process;

/EPBRS Awards: Your opinion is welcome!

During the German EPBRS meeting the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy discussed the possibility to initiate EPBRS awards. /EPBRS reviews its mission and mandate

During the Finnish EPBRS meeting the European Platform for Biodiversity Research Strategy started to review its mission and mandate.

To get a better understanding of the strong and weak points of EPBRS S. van Opstal (NL) initiated a network questionnaire. The results of this questionnaires were analysed.
